Keep it real in this post not just because you hate someone or they play for your home team. Not taking away from what Smith did last year it was great to watch and he is one of the most explosive players in the NFL but Terrell Owens > Smith as a Wide Out and has had a better career than Smith. Place your vote.

C'mon man...the chemestry / attitude issues alone make TO one of the worst recievers in the league. Even if I was Arizona or Oakland I would not want him on my team.
After last season, I would take Smitty over TO anyday. Smitty: 1 TO: 1 |

T.O. has skills no doubt- he is a playmaker/gamebreaker, but T.O is NOT a TEAM PLAYER. T.O is TOXIC period. I watched him out here in SF Single handily destroy that team, then watched him do it in Philly, you cant argue that the guy ruins team chemistry and divides locker rooms, thats something that has to be figured in.
SO GIVE ME SMITTY.... & by the way smitty #'s are close to any other WR's within there first 5yrs in this league, & Smitty missed all of 04 with a leg injury. By the way

He started out as special teamer. When he got his chance as a WR he showed a lot of promise in his first year. The only year he was "inconsistent" was when he got his leg snapped in half! Tough to play when you're on crutches! All he did last year was lead the league in virtually every receiving category. T.O. is a cancer. I actually like Chad Johnson and think he's a great receiver, but I don't think he's quite as dangerously explosive as Smitty.
*It's much easier to explain that you missed the better part of a season due to a broken leg than it is to explain that your team simply told you to go home - that they'd rather give you a check to stay home than have to deal with your bull$#it! This is common sense really. Terrell Owens is a big player as is Steve Smith.
However, what matters in football (team sport) is not just skill or who makes more money. It is teamwork and your ability to mesh with your team and be a team player and bring your team to glory. So... Sideline Team Bench > Terrell Owens. I'd take Smitty anyday, hell i'd even take the bench over TO. |

Oh wow, he comments on consistancy. Yet he is comparing receivers who have been in the league longer than Steve Smith. Talk about not being able to keep it real. I think the only reality here is you came here to start some chit. Congrats on being a punk. You get muh vote.
Now as to which receiver would I rather have? Its a no brainer. Steve Smith hasn't even reached his prime yet. |

There is not a single shred of logic to that statement. For the record, the "consistent" Mr. Johnson's rankings: Receptions - 5th Receiving Yards - 3rd Receiving TDs - 9th And the "consistent" Mr. Ward: Receptions - 30th Receiving Yards - 22nd Receiving TDs - 4th Last edited by Mr. Scot; 04-20-2006 at 07:22 PM. |

Consistent? Uhh, let's see 2003 he had a great year along with Mushin playing #1 reciever. 2004 his leg breaks. 2005 he was the best reciever in the league. Why exactly did you even start this topic if you want to talk about guys just starting out as their teams prime reciever vs guys who have already been considered their teams #1 reciever? So far you've only trashed anyone who has voted Steve Smith. So you're obviously just trolling the topic looking for a reason to keep this out of the smack forum and trash Steve Smith at the same time. |

Smith is younger and if he plays close to how he did last year he is a better WR
Smith has also been extremely productive not only in 2 regular seasons but in 2 post seasons. Smiths Postseason stats receiving 7 games 45 receptions 739 yards receiving 6 tds rushing 5 attempts 45 yards 1 td and 1 punt return for a TD TO's Postseason stats receiving 9 games 48 recptions 676 yards 4 tds rushing 0 returns 0 |

just ignore him i have watched Johnson play many times and he isnt on Smiths level, also Johnson doesnt receive close to the amount of the attention Smith receives by opposing defenses. |

Steve Smith is inconsistent? Your an idiot. He was exclusively a return man in his rookie season (and made the pro bowl). Had an ok season his 2nd season with 872 yard and was out for the whole 04 season with a broken fibula.
Every year hes PLAYED (4 out of 5 years) his stats have gotten better. If he was inconsistent than he would have a good year than followed by a bad year. |

Chad Johnson is a way better Wide out than Steve Smith yall are just picking Smith because of Owens attitude but without Owens ego yall would be the other way. Hell I would take Johnson over Steve Smith. Jerry Rice didnt even put Smith in the
top 5. |
